5/20/2010
Georgetown Community Hospital will continue to offer obstetrics and maternity services through a new partnership with UK HealthCare. Georgetown Women’s Healthcare, a new obstetrics and gynecology practice staffed with UK physicians, will open in Georgetown in June. Though the physicians are employed by UK, they will have full-time practices in Georgetown and will deliver babies and perform surgery at Georgetown Community Hospital. The patients will also have all tests performed in Georgetown.
“We are excited to partner with UK HealthCare to continue to provide quality obstetrics care to the Scott County community,” said Barry Papania, Georgetown Community Hospital CEO. “UK has a tradition of excellence and we want our patients to have the best experience possible.”
The hospital’s maternity services focus on individualized care, with six labor and delivery rooms. New mothers have the option for babies to room with them or to stay in the nursery, which always is available. Additionally, the hospital offers breastfeeding classes and childbirth education classes, which are free to anyone delivering at the hospital.
Georgetown Community Hospital is a 75-bed acute care facility with an award-winning history of providing excellence in health care. The hospital has been ranked one of the “Best Places to Work in Kentucky” five out of the last six years.
