Georgetown Community Hospital Names Anita Wise 2009 Mercy Award Winner

4/7/2009

Hospitals are full of unsung heroes—people who take care and concern for others to a whole new level. Georgetown Community Hospital is singing the praises of one such individual. Anita Wise was awarded the hospital’s 2009 Mercy Award.

Established in 2002 to honor the life of Scott Mercy, founding Chairman and CEO of LifePoint Hospitals, Inc., Georgetown Community Hospital’s parent company, the Mercy Award is the highest honor an employee can receive. The annual award recognizes one hospital employee who best represents the spirit and values on which the company was founded.

Ms. Wise has been with Georgetown Community Hospital since 2007 and is the Business Office Director for the hospital. She was recognized for her compassion while working with patients as well as her willingness to help those in need in the community. Additionally, she continually acts in a professional manner, meeting every challenge with a positive attitude.

“LifePoint Hospitals is committed to delivering the highest quality patient care possible. We are extremely proud of Anita for her efforts on behalf of our patients and our community,” said Barry Papania, Georgetown Community Hospital’s CEO. “Her exemplary work and compassion set a high standard for health care professionals. We are proud to have her as part of our employee family. Undoubtedly, our patients benefit from the kind of commitment to excellence and to humanitarian concerns she demonstrates each day.”

This honor puts Ms. Wise in the running for LifePoint Hospitals’ 2009 company-wide Mercy Award. The company-wide winner will be honored at a ceremony during LifePoint’s Senior Leadership Retreat in Washington, D.C., in June.

Georgetown Community Hospital is a 75-bed acute care facility with an award-winning history of providing excellence in health care. The hospital has been named a “Solucient 100 Top Hospital” three times in recent years and has been ranked one of the “Best Places to Work in Kentucky” four out of the last five years.
