A Mission to Care
The Community Medical Mission, a free health clinic for uninsured, low-income citizens of Scott County, is available on the campus of Georgetown Community Hospital. The clinic is located across from the Emergency Department, next to Cardiac Rehabilitation.
Hours
The Community Medical Mission clinic is open every Thursday evening from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 or 9 p.m. depending on volume. Two physicians will be scheduled on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month. A part-time RN coordinates the operation while the rest of the staff are volunteers. Nurses and other non-clinical personnel have also volunteered to help with the reception desk and other duties.
The clinic was organized by Carrie Johnson, RN, CNO of Georgetown Community Hospital, Dr. Robert Culbertson, of Georgetown Internal Medicine, the Health Department and others in the community.
“We have a large number of people who truly cannot afford health care - they don't make enough money to buy insurance, but are working and cannot qualify for Medicaid or other programs,” said Johnson.
