From Heartbreak to Hope: Chuck Tackett’s Journey to Recovery

July 29, 2025

As a lifelong farmer and public servant, Chuck Tackett knows the value of hard work and perseverance. At 71, he never expected that a strange sensation in his left arm while driving would be the beginning of a life-changing experience. When the feeling spread to his right arm, Chuck’s instincts told him something was wrong—something with his heart.

Without hesitation, he drove himself to Georgetown Community Hospital, where his fears were confirmed: he was having a heart attack. Thanks to the swift action of the medical team, Chuck was quickly transported to the University of Kentucky, where a stent was placed to restore blood flow and save his life.

Just two weeks after surgery, Chuck began Cardiac Rehabilitation at Georgetown Community Hospital. There, he met Jessica, Ashley and Ryan—three dedicated professionals who guided him through Phase II of his recovery with compassion, expertise and encouragement. Under their care, Chuck not only regained his strength but also gained a new perspective on health and wellness.

Now in Phase III, Chuck continues his rehab with more independence, monitoring his blood pressure and staying committed to the lifestyle changes he’s embraced. Through the program, he has lost weight, improved his diet, and incorporated regular exercise into his routine—all while continuing to farm and enjoy time with his family.

“Cardiac Rehab doesn’t just help you recover,” Chuck says. “It teaches you how to live better. You learn about your medications, your diet, and the changes you need to make to live life to the fullest.”

Chuck Tackett’s story is a powerful reminder that with the right care, support, and determination, it’s never too late to take control of your health.
